About the event

Description: Dr. Yoak will be discussing the pathophysiology and epidemiology of bat rabies to help us better understand how it can be identified and controlled in a rehabilitation setting. Rabies is a difficult disease to manage and comes with increased risks to both humans and other wildlife in care, so it's important to address it with the most cautious practices possible. Dr. Yoak will also give a sneak peak at an interesting project we're working on to try and develop non-destructive tests for rabies in bats.
Bio: Andrew Calinger-Yoak is a Wildlife Biologist at Otterbein University and the director of their Zoo and Conservation Science program. He's worked on rabies control in domestic and wildlife species for 10 years and has worked on projects ranging from Ethiopia, India, Saudi Arabia, Ecuador and all the way back home to Ohio.
