Join us for the 33rd Annual OWRA Conference "Migrating Toward the Future". This year's pre-conference workshops include Introduction to Wildlife Rehabilitation, Rabies Vector Species training, Animal Behavior training and bandaging. Regular conference sessions will include species profiles, fundraising, neurological disease management and feature our guest veterinarian Dr Vincent-Sturdivant. Courses will feature beginning to advanced rehabilitation skills as well as general courses for our wildlife enthusiasts!

Introduction to Wildlife Rehab
Nov 6: 9am-5pm: Lunch break 12-1pm: Lunch is NOT included IWR covers wildlife rehabilitation regulations in Ohio, handling wildlife calls, neonatal care of orphaned wildlife, zoonotic diseases, stabilization and transportation of Category I species. This class, or an equivalent, is required by the Ohio Division of Wildlife to apply for a Category I Rehabilitation Permit. Registration fee includes manual, handouts and certificate of completion.

Rabies Vector Species
Nov 6: 9am-5pm: Lunch break 12-1pm: Lunch is NOT included Rabies Vector Species (RVS) class encompasses current regulations, status of rabies in Ohio, special considerations in RVS rehabilitation, capture and restraint, exposure protocol, testing, species information and health considerations of raccoons, skunks, foxes and bats. This workshop, or equivalent, is required by Ohio Division of Wildlife to accept rabies vector species for rehabilitation

Animal Behavior Training
Nov 6: 8am-12pm Using positive reinforcement and the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis, participants will be guided through assessing an animal’s behavior, comfort, physical limitations, learning history, and environment to develop practical, individualized training plans. Bandaging for Mammals
Nov 6th: 8am-11am This is a hands on session where participants will practice applying the common bandages used in mammals. Examples include a padded limb bandage with stirrups, Velpeau's bandage for humerus fractures, and various splints for fracture management.

Fluid Therapy
Nov 6th: 11am-1:45pm (lunch break from 12-12:45pm - lunch is NOT included) Fluid therapy is one of the most common forms of treatment done in rehabilitation. In this session we will review the science behind fluid therapy, what the difference in types of fluids, the different routes of fluid administration, and end with a practical hands-on practice.

Bandaging for Birds
Nov 6th 2-5pm This is a hands on session where participants will practice applying the common bandages used in birds. Examples include a wing, body wrap, curved edge splint for wrist injuries, shoes, tibiotarsus splints and figure of 8 bandages.
