Title: Native Gardens to Support Wildlife
Description:
Planning our home landscapes with nature in mind is imperative to solving the biodiversity crisis we find ourselves in. A designated Monarch Waystation, certified Audubon Bird-Friendly Habitat, National Wildlife Federation Wildlife Habitat and Firefly Habitat, Becca's yard is an ever-evolving piece of art she hopes will inspire current and future land owners to ditch convention and take a walk on the wild side.
Bio: Becca Zak is the Interim President for the Greater Akron Audubon Society, an Interpretive naturalist for Summit Metro Parks, a New England homestead hopeful and an advocate for incorporating native plants into home and city landscapes. She and her partner Stewart live comfortably and intentionally with their dog, two cats and 4 chickens on a quarter-acre jam-packed with a perennial orchard garden, wildflower prairie, shade bed habitat and rain garden.
