About the event

Description: When we understand the specialized and often amazing sensory and behavioral adaptations of wildlife, we can use that knowledge to provide better environments and use more targeted techniques when handling, feeding or providing other care. We will learn about the effects of our lights, ambient noise, scent, tactile features and other aspects of our human care environments on the neuro-endocrine systems of animal patients. The adaptations that help wildlife thrive out in nature can be the very adaptations that inhibit quick healing. We can use these adaptive features to our advantage to help patients heal and return to the wild as quickly and wholey as possible.
