What to do if you find an injured or orphaned animal
Before interfering, contact your local wildlife rehabilitator. Some animals do not actually need help. It is important to have professionals help you decide when it is okay to interfere.
As tempting as it is, do NOT feed or water your orphaned or injured animal! This can make a rehabilitator's job impossible. Many animals are very sensitive to having the wrong diets or, if they're seriously sick or injured, are unable to properly digest food. This can cause irreparable harm.
Follow professional guidance on how to contain and transport your wildlife patient to a licensed rehabilitator.
