Locating an Ohio Wildlife Rehabilitator

Wildlife rehabilitation is the process of caring for injured, orphaned or sick wild animals and releasing them back to the wild when they are able to survive on their own.

Permits are required from the Ohio Division of Wildlife to rehabilitate any native wild animals. Additional permits are required from the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service to rehabilitate native birds.

Wildlife rehabilitators throughout Ohio also answer thousands of telephone calls from the public about wild animals and many offer educational programs.

If you are in need of a rehabilitator in your area, there are two options for you.....

Contact the Ohio Division of Wildlife District Office nearest you:

Central Ohio - District 1 - Columbus - (614) 644-3925

NW Ohio - District 2 - Findlay -  (419) 424-5000

NE Ohio - District 3 - Akron - (330) 644-2293

SE Ohio - District 4 - Athens - (614) 594-2211

SW Ohio - District 5 - Xenia - (937) 372-9261

Or, you can contact a rehabilitator in or near your area who can help you directly or provide you with a referral to a permitted rehabilitator closer to you. (If you need immediate help, calling on the phone would be your best option!)   Contact one of these OWRA member permitted rehabilitators, listed by county, who may be able to assist you with your question or problem.
